Production Update on Dividers
Posted on 09 April 2017
I almost hate to post another “dividers are almost here” update, but I got so many questions from Lost Art Press customers on Saturday that I decided this is a good idea.
For the last three weeks, Raney has been traveling back and forth to Machine Time in Nicholasville, Ky., to help set up the machinery for producing dividers en masse. As always happens with complex operations, things go haywire.
The tool that cuts the enormous slot in the dividers began acting up, cutting a slot that was .006” oversize. We fetched the tooling from Machine Time, and Raney disassembled it and put it back together, reseating its carbide inserts. That did the trick.
So on Friday, Machine Time produced six pairs of dividers that Raney is “measuring 16 ways from Sunday” to ensure everything is in spec before we give Machine Time a green light to run full-throttle. We hope that will happen tomorrow (Monday).
Despite all the crazy trips back and forth to Nicholasville, Ky. (which is starting to feel like it’s actually in Tennessee), we are crawling to the finish line with this tool. Just a bit more crawling to go.
